Please read these Terms of Use (“Terms,” “Agreement”) carefully before using the HelloMula household financial management application and website located at https://www.hellomula.com (collectively, the “Service”) operated by Hellomula LLC (“Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).
By accessing or using the Service, creating an account, or clicking “I Agree,” you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must meet all of the following requirements to use the Service:
- You must be at least 18 years of age, or at least 13 years of age with the express consent and active supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms on your behalf.
- You must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract in your jurisdiction.
- You must not be barred from using the Service under the laws of the United States or any other applicable jurisdiction.
- You must not have had a prior account terminated by us for violation of these Terms.
By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet all eligibility requirements. If you are using the Service on behalf of a household that includes minors, you as the account holder are solely responsible for supervising and controlling their access.
2. Account Registration & Security
2.1 Account Creation
To access most features of the Service, you must register for an account by providing accurate, current, and complete information including your name, email address, and a password. You agree to maintain and promptly update your account information to keep it accurate and complete.
2.2 One Account Per Person
Each individual may maintain only one personal account. Creating multiple accounts for the same individual is prohibited. Multiple household members may each have their own account linked to a shared household.
2.3 Account Credentials
You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your username and password and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to:
- Choose a strong, unique password and not reuse passwords from other services
- Never share your login credentials with anyone outside your household
- Log out of your account at the end of each session on shared devices
- Notify us immediately at support@hellomula.com if you suspect any unauthorized access to your account
2.4 Account Security Features
The Service includes a range of technical measures that protect your account and your data. You agree not to circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security feature of the Service.
2.5 Our Liability for Unauthorized Access
We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to maintain the security of your account credentials, or from any unauthorized access resulting from your actions or omissions.
3. Description of Service
HelloMula is a personal household financial management platform that enables users to:
- Manually track financial accounts including checking, savings, credit cards, loans, and investments
- Record and categorize income, expenses, transfers, and debt payments
- Set up and automate recurring transaction schedules
- Create and manage budgets and savings goals, including goals shared across a household
- Generate financial reports including cashflow analysis, net worth tracking, and spending summaries
- Run guided financial analyses (“Decision Lab”) based on data you have entered, including analyses that reference third-party reference data such as published government wage statistics and federal tax brackets
- Collaborate with other household members through shared account access and in-app messaging
- Manage household membership with role-based access controls
Certain features may be offered on an early-access or beta basis. Your use of those features is additionally governed by our Beta Services Agreement.
HelloMula does not connect to, retrieve data from, or transact with any external financial institution, bank, or brokerage. All financial data is entered manually by you and is not verified by us.
3.1 Service Availability
We will make reasonable efforts to ensure the Service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, upgrades, system failures, or circumstances beyond our control. We will endeavor to provide advance notice of scheduled maintenance where practicable.
3.2 Service Modifications
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes that affect your access to or use of the Service. See Section 19 for details.
4. Household Accounts & Member Roles
4.1 Household Structure
The Service is designed for use by household units. A “household” consists of a Primary User who creates and controls the household account and any additional members they invite. All members of a household share access to the household’s financial data as permitted by their assigned role.
4.2 Roles and Permissions
The Service provides the following member roles, each with different levels of access:
- Primary User: Full access to all features, account management, member management, billing, and household settings. The Primary User bears ultimate responsibility for the household account under these Terms.
- General User: Limited access as configured by the Primary User. Specific permissions may be restricted at the Primary User’s discretion.
4.3 Primary User Responsibility
The Primary User is responsible for:
- All activity that occurs within the household account, including actions taken by invited members
- Ensuring all household members comply with these Terms
- Managing member access and promptly revoking access when a member should no longer have it (e.g., following a change in household composition)
- Payment of any applicable subscription fees for the household account tier
4.4 Member Consent
By inviting another person to join your household, you represent that you have obtained their informed consent to share their personal information with us and to have their activity within the Service subject to these Terms. Each invited member agrees to these Terms independently upon accepting the invitation.
4.5 Household Disputes
We are not responsible for disputes arising between household members regarding access to, control over, or accuracy of financial data within the Service. In the event of a dispute, we may, but are not obligated to, take steps to protect account integrity at the Primary User’s written request.
5. Subscriptions & Billing
5.1 Service Tiers
The Service is offered under the following subscription tiers:
- Free: Available at no charge, supporting households of up to 2 members. Includes account tracking, transaction management, recurring automation, financial reporting, and ten of the twenty-four Decision Lab analyses.
- Household: A paid tier at $7.99 per month or $79 per year, supporting households of up to 5 members. Includes all free-tier features plus the remaining fourteen Decision Lab analyses, unlimited recurring rules, household budgets and reports, and advanced reports.
5.2 Free Tier
The free tier is provided at no charge, subject to these Terms. We reserve the right to modify the features included in the free tier with reasonable advance notice. Continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes acceptance.
5.3 Paid Subscriptions
For the Household subscription:
- The subscription is billed in advance on the billing cycle you select at checkout — monthly or annually
- Payment is due at the start of each billing cycle
- All fees are stated in U.S. dollars and are non-refundable except as expressly stated herein or required by applicable law
- We use third-party payment processors to handle billing. By providing payment information, you authorize us to charge your payment method for all fees due
- You are responsible for keeping your payment information current. Failure to maintain valid payment information may result in suspension or downgrade of your account
5.4 Upgrades and Downgrades
You may upgrade your subscription tier at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately and you will be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of the billing cycle. You may downgrade your subscription at the end of your current billing cycle. Downgrading to a tier with fewer permitted members will not automatically remove existing members; however, you will be required to reduce your household size to within the tier limit before the downgrade takes effect.
5.5 Cancellation
You can cancel a paid subscription at any time using Manage Billing on your profile. Requesting deletion of your account also stops your subscription from renewing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle; you will retain access to paid features until that date. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods unless required by applicable law.
5.6 Price Changes
We reserve the right to modify subscription pricing at any time. We will provide at least 30 days advance notice of any price increase via email and/or a notice within the Service. Your continued use of a paid subscription after the effective date of a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing. This section does not apply to a founding member rate while it is protected under Section 5.8.
5.7 Taxes
Subscription fees are exclusive of all taxes, levies, or duties imposed by taxing authorities. You are responsible for paying all such taxes applicable to your subscription, excluding taxes on our net income.
5.8 Founding Member Pricing
A limited number of households that start a paid Household subscription while the founding member offer is open (“founding members”) are charged the subscription price in effect when they subscribed (the “founding rate”). For as long as a founding member’s subscription remains active:
- We will not increase the founding rate, notwithstanding Section 5.6
- The founding rate continues if you switch between monthly and annual billing, at the founding rate for the billing cycle you switch to
- The founding rate continues if a payment fails and the outstanding invoice is later paid, as long as the subscription has not been cancelled
The founding rate ends if the subscription is cancelled, whether by you or because it ends under these Terms. If you subscribe again later, the price in effect at that time applies. The founding rate does not prevent changes to taxes under Section 5.7, and it is not transferable to another household.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. Specifically, you agree that you will:

- Share your account or login credentials with individuals outside your household
- Create accounts for the purpose of circumventing household member limits on paid tiers
- Attempt to access another user’s account without authorization

8. User-Submitted Content & Data
8.1 Your Data
All financial data, transaction records, account information, and other content you submit to the Service (“User Data”) remains yours. We do not claim ownership of your User Data.
8.2 License to Us
By submitting User Data to the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to store, process, display, and transmit your User Data solely as necessary to provide and improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy. This license terminates when you delete your data or close your account, subject to our data retention obligations.
8.3 Your Responsibility for Accuracy
You are solely responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and legality of all User Data you submit. We do not verify, validate, or independently confirm any financial information you enter. The Service reports and displays only what you input — inaccurate inputs will produce inaccurate outputs. We are not liable for any decisions made based on inaccurate data you have entered.
8.4 Messaging Content
You are responsible for all content transmitted through the in-app messaging feature. You agree not to use messaging to transmit any content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, threatening, obscene, or otherwise objectionable. We reserve the right to review and remove messaging content that violates these Terms.
8.5 Data Export & Portability
You can download your User Data at any time, as a ZIP of CSV files, from the Privacy & Security tab of your profile. For any data the download does not include, contact us and we will make reasonable efforts to provide it in a machine-readable format within 30 days of your request.
9. Financial Information Disclaimer

All reports, projections, and summaries generated by the Service are based solely on the data you manually enter. The Service does not access live market data, real-time account balances, or any external financial data source. 10.2 Limited License to Use
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service solely for your personal, non-commercial household financial management purposes. This license does not include the right to:

10.4 Feedback
If you provide us with any feedback, suggestions, or ideas regarding the Service (“Feedback”), you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, and incorporate that Feedback into the Service or our products without any obligation of compensation or attribution to you.
11. Third-Party Services & Links
11.1 Third-Party Services
The Service may rely on or integrate with third-party services for operational functions, including email delivery, hosting infrastructure, and payment processing. Your use of any third-party service is governed by that service’s own terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for the practices, availability, or content of third-party services.
11.1a Third-Party Reference Data
Certain features present third-party reference data — for example, published Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data used by the Salary Benchmark module, federal tax bracket tables used by the Federal Tax Estimator, and market rate information. This data is provided for informational purposes only, may lag current published figures, and is not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or current. See our Disclaimer for details.
11.2 Third-Party Links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites, including financial institutions or services you optionally associate with your account entries. These links are provided for your convenience only. We do not endorse, control, or assume responsibility for the content or practices of any linked third-party website. Accessing third-party websites is at your own risk.
11.3 Affiliate Offers & Sponsored Content
From time to time, we may display offers for third-party financial products or services — such as credit cards, savings accounts, or similar banking tools — within the Service. We may use information from your account to determine which offers are relevant to surface. This information is used internally only; we do not share, transmit, or sell your personal financial data to any affiliate, advertiser, or third-party product provider in connection with these displays.
Material connection disclosure: When we display an offer, we may earn a referral fee or commission if you apply for or purchase the product. The presence of an offer does not constitute an endorsement or a personalized financial recommendation. You should evaluate any offer independently and, where appropriate, consult a qualified professional before making financial product decisions.
Any engagement with a third-party offer — including any application, enrollment, or purchase — is solely between you and the relevant third party. We are not a party to and assume no responsibility for third-party products, terms, pricing, eligibility decisions, or outcomes.
We will not display affiliate offers for investment securities or insurance products without first ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state licensing requirements governing referrals for such products.
12. Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Our collection, use, and disclosure of your personal and financial information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in the Privacy Policy. Please review the Privacy Policy carefully before using the Service.
13. Termination & Suspension
13.1 Termination by You
You can delete your account at any time from the Privacy & Security tab of your profile. Your account is closed and removed 30 days after you confirm; until then you can keep using the Service and can cancel the deletion. Your data is then deleted per our Privacy Policy, Section 7.
13.2 Termination or Suspension by Us
We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice, including but not limited to cases where we believe you have:
- Violated any provision of these Terms
- Engaged in any conduct that is harmful to other users, third parties, or us
- Provided false or misleading registration information
- Engaged in fraudulent, illegal, or abusive activity in connection with the Service
- Failed to pay any applicable subscription fees
Where practicable, we will provide advance notice of account suspension or termination and an opportunity to remedy the violation, unless the violation is severe or irreversible in nature.
13.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
- Your right to access and use the Service ceases immediately
- All household members associated with your household will lose access to the household account
- We may delete your account data per our retention policy
- Any outstanding unpaid fees for paid subscriptions remain due and payable
- Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including Sections 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, and 17
13.4 Account Reinstatement
If you believe your account was suspended or terminated in error, you may contact us at support@hellomula.com to request a review. We will consider reinstatement requests at our sole discretion.

- WARRANTIES THAT THE SERVICE OR ITS SERVERS ARE FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
15. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL HELLOMULA LLC, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, LICENSORS, OR SERVICE PROVIDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY:
- INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES
- LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES
- FINANCIAL LOSSES ARISING FROM DECISIONS MADE BASED ON INFORMATION IN THE SERVICE
- DAMAGES RESULTING FROM UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO OR ALTERATION OF YOUR DATA
- DAMAGES ARISING FROM INTERRUPTION OR CESSATION OF THE SERVICE
WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STATUTE, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
IN ANY CASE, OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) THE TOTAL FEES PAID BY YOU TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100.00).
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CERTAIN TYPES OF DAMAGES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
16. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Hellomula LLC, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents, licensors, and service providers from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or relating to:
- Your violation of these Terms

- Your violation of any applicable law or regulation

17. Dispute Resolution & Arbitration
17.1 Informal Resolution
Before initiating any formal dispute, you agree to contact us at support@hellomula.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will make good-faith efforts to resolve the dispute within 30 days of receiving your notice. If we are unable to resolve the dispute informally, either party may proceed to binding arbitration as described below.
17.2 Binding Arbitration
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY — IT AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS.
Except for disputes that qualify for small claims court and except as provided in Section 17.4, you and Hellomula LLC agree to resolve any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service through final and binding arbitration, rather than in court. This arbitration agreement applies to all claims, including those arising under contract, tort, statute, or any other legal or equitable theory.
Arbitration will be conducted by a neutral arbitrator under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) Consumer Arbitration Rules, which are available at www.adr.org. The arbitration will be conducted in English and may be conducted remotely or in California.
17.3 Class Action Waiver
YOU AND HELLOMULA LLC AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. UNLESS BOTH PARTIES AGREE, THE ARBITRATOR MAY NOT CONSOLIDATE MORE THAN ONE PERSON’S CLAIMS.
17.4 Exceptions
Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may bring an individual action in small claims court, and either party may seek emergency injunctive or other equitable relief from a court of competent jurisdiction to prevent actual or threatened infringement, misappropriation, or violation of a party’s intellectual property rights.
17.5 Opt-Out
You have the right to opt out of the arbitration agreement within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by notifying us in writing at support@hellomula.com with the subject line “Arbitration Opt-Out.” If you opt out, all disputes will be resolved in courts as specified in Section 18.
18. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or related to them or the Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
For any disputes not subject to arbitration under Section 17, you and Hellomula LLC each consent to the exclusive personal jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in the State of California.
If you are a consumer located in a jurisdiction where this governing law clause is unenforceable, the mandatory consumer protection laws of your jurisdiction will apply to the extent required by law.
19. Modifications to Terms & Service
19.1 Modifications to These Terms
We reserve the right to revise these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will:
- Update the “Effective Date” at the top of this page
- Send a notification to the email address associated with your account
- Display a prominent notice within the Service for at least 30 days prior to the change taking effect
Your continued use of the Service after the revised Terms take effect constitutes your binding acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree with the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service and can delete your account (see Section 13.1).
19.2 Modifications to the Service
We reserve the right to modify, add, suspend, or discontinue any feature or aspect of the Service at any time. For material changes that remove functionality you rely on, we will endeavor to provide at least 30 days advance notice where practicable. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.
20. General Provisions
20.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms and conditions that may apply to specific features of the Service, constitute the entire agreement between you and Hellomula LLC regarding the Service and supersede all prior and contemporaneous understandings, agreements, representations, and warranties.
20.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions of these Terms will continue in full force and effect. The invalid or unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.
20.3 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not constitute a waiver of that right or provision unless acknowledged and agreed to by us in writing. No waiver of any breach or default under these Terms will constitute a waiver of any subsequent breach or default.
20.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer any of your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may freely assign our rights and obligations under these Terms, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.

We will not be liable for any delay or failure to perform our obligations under these Terms due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, pandemics, war, terrorism, government action, power or internet failures, or third-party service outages.
20.6 No Third-Party Beneficiaries
These Terms do not and are not intended to confer any rights or remedies upon any person other than you and Hellomula LLC.
20.7 Headings
Section headings in these Terms are for convenience only and have no legal or contractual effect.
20.8 Language
